Ruffles, Rouching, and Colour Unite: Tactile Texture for Gaya’s Fall 2009 Collection

Defined by their eclectic style and the trademark peony, Gaya is quickly gaining international recognition as an up-and-coming accessory line that offers style, substance and longevity. The bags and wallets are unique and unforgettable, en point with the hottest global fashion trends while creating statement looks for women all around the world. From Europe and Asia to across North America, Gaya continues to gain the respect of the fashion industry with their flare for originality and ability to design, manufacture, and market beautifully crafted handbags and accessories. Gaya’s fall 2009 collection offers the top runway looks for the season: Crayola Colours, Ruched Goddess, Shimmering Metallics, and Ruffles and Bows.

Crayola Colours: Bold, Saturated colours are right on trend for fall 2009, electric hues to brighten up the gloomiest of gray rainy days. Think fiery fuchsia, neon turquoise, and rich royal blue. These colours are available in larger messenger bags and hobos to capture the look for everyday, and are also available as clutches and wallets for a glam night on the town.

Ruched Goddess: Think modern Grecian, the same draping and ruching seen on the hottest runway gowns is also available in accessories. Feminine and unique, a touch of ruching adds detail to classic styles, updating the basics and creating interest to see and to feel. Also available from the Gaya fall 2009 collection are rose appliqués. Inspired by the beauty of the flower petal, designer Wei Wei Chang adorned some pieces in the line with large roses, a dramatic addition both thoughtful and unique.

Shimmering Metallics: Sparkle and shine are a must for any fall collection, a touch of shimmer a fun way to liven up the obligatory black winter peacoat. Gold, bronze, and silver are available, with a nice range of party clutches that are perfect for the holiday season.

Ruffles and Bows: Ruffles and bows are ultra-feminine and super stylish for the fall 2009 season. Gaya creates several different versions of this look, from bow-front clutches, to totebags with layers of ruffles and rows of pleats, to hobos with a big bow on the strap. These textured pieces look great with everything from a pair of jeans to the classic little black dress.

Now going into their sixth year of business, Gaya began in a small office on Granville Street, Vancouver, in 2003. A seamless team of three sisters: Sally, Angela, and Wei Wei Chang, the three work closely together between the design and manufacturing process to create a product of the highest quality, staying true to their original concepts. Gaya features a variety of handbags and other accessories created in soft leathers as well as synthetics, with designs produced in limited quantities to ensure exclusivity.
