Elroy Hunts Down Style for Fall 2008
From the Italian elegance of dress to Rome’s classical architecture as well as Mussolini’s military influence,
Elroy designer Leanne McElroy raided Italy’s past to create a fall collection that balances mass appeal trends
with high design. “This collection was a bit of a shift for Elroy,” says Leanne. “Although it follows
the same Elroy silhouettes, the feel was more dramatic and moody.”
In an overwhelming collection of tone on tone neutrals there is the occasional splash of fall’s hot colour, red.
But the military has captured the heart of the collection with shades of olive, grey, tan, avocado, and black. But instead
of acting as camouflage, the funnel neck button down dress and the high-waist skirt with side panel epaulet ruffles
will have people sneaking fugitive glances. The execution of the one piece, deep v, pant-suit positions Elroy as a leader
in the field of sexy eco-lux fashions.
“We aim to dress women looking for not-so-basic basics,” says Leanne. “She wants to support a greener
lifestyle but without sacrificing style. So Elroy creates a collection of sleek lines, classical structure, and minimalist
style but with an abundance of details. And it is all made of organic cotton canvas, soy/organic cotton knit, hand woven
bamboo, and bamboo knit.”
Elroy, like Mussolini, has a talent for dictating style like no other as she has proved once again with her fall 2008
collection.
