 Don’t Fly Solo This Winter
Equip Yourself with Olie
For Immediate Release
May 4th, 2009
If last winter was any indication, the icy wrath of the coldest season of the year just seems to get more frigid.
Since many of us can’t take to the skies to escape this chilly season, why not fight against it, armored with
a snug and stylish piece from Olie?
Inspired by “the icy chill of winter” designer Amy Stewart has chosen a mimicking colour palette of icy
and deep blue as well as complementary colours of turquoise, olive green and deep violet.
“I wanted to use colours
that bring warmth to darker fall clothing, while embracing the blue and grey tones found in snow and ice,” says
Stewart.
The collection consists of scarves, head warmers, shawls, and hoodie shawls; with her focal point of the season
being the Olie Scarf. This is the trademark piece of the Olie collection and falls happily in size between the Petite
Scarf and the Olie City Shawl, made with luxuriously soft Alpaca wool this scarf will have you reaching new heights
this winter.
The garments are constructed of cozy Blended Wool, or super soft Alpaca which is an alternative for people who cannot
wear wool. Not only will Olie ward off the local winter wonderland but the brand has enlisted other Vancouver artists
to provide the buttons that will seal you in against the cold. Each button is hand made and artistically beautiful;
the wooden buttons are made by Adea Chung of Billy Would Jewellery and Denise Wilson of Bronsino Bag fame contributes
the large round leather ones. It is these unique details that make Amy’s designs soar beyond the realm of regular
winter wears.
