Miss Coquette’s Leanne Dunic
Springs Forward into Casual Wear
In
springtime buds start to show on the limbs of trees, crocuses start
to peak out from below the earth, and Miss Coquette will be flaunting
a new baby sister. tenth & proper is the second shop opened
by 23-year-old wunderkind Leanne Dunic. Leanne opened the renowned
Vancouver fashion boutique Miss Coquette in 2003 at the age 20.
Three years later, she has built a reputation for choosing stunning
pieces that are made to last. The opening of tenth & proper
marks the expansion of her empire into casual wear for men and women.
The spring collection at tenth & proper boasts gorgeous texture and
enduring quality, all at affordable price points. Whether it’s a
tee or a sweater, the clothes will look sensational, fit perfectly, and
last and last. Their women’s selection includes garments from James
Perse, Majestic, Mimi & Coco, Iris, and local design sweethearts, Dace
and Sunja Link (pictured). For men, look for Caste (exclusive to the store),
James Perse, Majestic, Ever, and designs from London-based house Full Circle.
Plus tenth & proper is introduce their own line, properTy, produced
by the manufacturers of Jil Sander and Prada basics. The clothes are made
of superior quality fabric, and unlike their high profile siblings, won’t
break the bank. Tenth & proper opens March 15, 2007 at 4479 West 10th
Ave. in Vancouver.
Across
the street at Miss Coquette timeless and beautiful fashions continue
to be the theme. But for spring there is a slight ‘60s influence
particularly from Nougat and Evan & Dean (exclusive to the boutique),
which will both showcase vibrant yellow with black and grey this
season. There will be lots of silk and the store known for their
dress selection is forecasting shapes for spring that are feminine,
soft, and classic. There will also be a slew of belts both skinny
and wide, purses from LA-based line Jalda, and nature-inspired jewelry
from supermodel/jewelry designer Manon Von Gerkan. Look for sea
horses, snake earrings with diamond eyes that can double as rings,
and delicate earrings with teeny stars and moons, all made out of
18K gold or pure silver.
Between the two shops, Leanne Dunic will dress anybody and everybody
with an eye for quality and fashion. The two shops are designed to be different
but complementary. Tenth & proper can be thought of as the main course—the
everyday wear that makes men and women look and feel incredible. Meanwhile,
Miss Coquette is like dessert—sweet, special and feminine.
Prices at Miss Coquette range from $45 for jewelry to $600 for a dress.
At tenth & proper the range is from $50 for bags to $450 for a jacket.
